Frank Murray Blankenship, Jr., age 85, of Morristown, formerly of Asheville, NC, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2024 at his residence. He was a member of Beaverdam Baptist Church where his family was founding members. Frank was employed at American ENKA (Lenzing) for forty three years. He was a master woodworking craftsman, building treasured furniture to pass thru generations to his family that he cherished. He also loved hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank, Sr. and Helen Blankenship; and sisters, Gail Waddell and Carol Johnson. He is survived by his wife of sixty seven years, Mary Blankenship; son, Steve (Kathy) Blankenship of Spartanburg, SC; daughter, Anne Hale of Morristown; grandchildren, Jamie (Scott) Wright of South Carolina, Jessica Blankenship of South Carolina, Laura Rutherford of Knoxville, and Meg Hale of Morristown; step-grandchildren, Michelle (Josh) Slater of Spartanburg, SC and Dylan (Caroline) Marshall of Spartanburg, SC; great-grandchildren, Molly and Caleb Rutherford of Knoxville; and step-great grandchild, Bailey Slater of Spartanburg, SC. Special thanks to Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice and nurse, Aaron Smith. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Thursday, January 2nd at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Family and friends will meet at 12 p.m. Friday, January 3rd at Lewis Memorial Park in Asheville, North Carolina for graveside services. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
