George Washington Brooks

George Washington Brooks, age 86, of Morristown, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2021 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System. He was a loving husband, father, brother, Papaw, and friend. George was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a life member of the VFW. He retired from Magnavox. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mayford and Jessie Brooks; son, Junior Poe; brothers, Arthur, Frank, Curt, and Doyle Brooks; sister, Sarah Davis; and granddaughter, Faith Brooks. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Brooks; children, Dena (David) Roberts and Jody (Liz) Brooks; sisters, Betty (Norman) Repass and Jean Spakes; grandchildren, Derek and Lucas Poe, Siobhan Elkins, Zackery, Emily, Matthew, Catherine, Dylan, Holly, Amanda, Seth, Tessa, Rachel, and Nathan Brooks; and seven great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 3rd at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Jason Hanshaw officiating. Family and friends will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 4th at Hamblen Memory Gardens for graveside services. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
