George "Gary" Holt

George Gary Holt, age 75, of Morristown, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at his home, surrounded by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Dorothy Holt; sister, Patsy Holt; son, Baron Holt; and father-in-law, Danny Stapleton. He is survived by his wife, Lea Ann Stapleton Holt; step-son, Andrew Swann; brother, Frank Holt; sister-in-law, Kathy Holt; mother-in-law, Pat Stapleton; and brother-in-law, David Stapleton. Gary was born on May 26, 1950. He served in the United States Marines at Paris Island and was a member of Cherokee Heights Baptist Church. He was a devoted husband, father, and brother. The family would like to give special thanks to Joe Hamlet and Kenny Cole for all of their help and prayers during this difficult time and would like to commend Caris Hospice for their loving care and support their staff provided during Gary’s final months. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Friday, September 26th at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Ken Cole officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 27th at Jefferson Memorial Gardens Mausoleum for entombment services. Pallbearers will be Frank Holt, Andrew Swann, David Stapleton, Mike Kirk, and David Southerland.
