Haskel Udean “Bill” Crews, age 87, of Bean Station, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 9, 2026 surrounded by his loved ones. Bill was a member of Clinchdale Missionary Baptist Church, but had been the pastor at several other churches in the community. All who knew Bill knew that he loved the Lord with his whole heart. He was ordained at Rock Haven Missionary Baptist Church in May of 1964. A lifelong farmer, he devoted his days to the land he called home his entire life, tending to multiple gardens every summer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Jean Crews; sons, Larry Franklin and Dean Haskel Crews (Kim); daughter, Leisa Ann Crews; parents, Frank and Stella Carpenter Crews; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jessie and Dovie Lee; brothers, Foister “Stump” Crews and James “Jim” Crews; and sisters, Mary “Toots” Collins, Dolly Welch, Susan Roach, and Jasmine “Jay” White. He is survived by his wife of thirteen years, Roxie Sue Crews; daughters, April (Terry) Payne, Sue (Dennis) Massengill, and Lola Crews; son, Jerry Cupp; granddaughters, Crystal “Cricket” (Pete) Lane, Aftan Payne, Leann Massengill, Brandy Marshall, and Sarah Cupp; grandsons, Conner Payne, Joshua Crews, and Matthew Massengill; great-grandson, J.D. (Callie) Crews; two great-granddaughters, Leah (Will) Rowe and Savanna (Cody) King; great-great grandchildren, Anna, Eli, Erin, Ezra, and Colson; he also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by special family members, Tim, Debra, and Steven Townsley and Terry (Carolyn) Welch. The family will receive friends from 2 – 4 p.m. Sunday, March 15th at Clinchdale Missionary Baptist Church in Bean Station. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, March 16th at the church with Rev. Matthew Alder, Rev. Darrell Alder, and Rev. David Rutherford officiating. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment will follow at Helton Cemetery in Bean Station. Pallbearers will be J.D. Crews, Pete Lane, Terry Payne, Terry Welch, Steven Townsley, and Tim Townsley. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Farmer, Conner Payne, Claude Dyer, Jerry Cupp, Dennis Massengill, Frank Holmes, and the deacons of Clinchdale Missionary Baptist Church.
