J.D. Cantwell, age 73, of Morristown, passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at his residence. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Morristown and a member of Masonic Lodge #231 and the Kerbela Temple. He was a truck driver for over fifty years. J.D. was a loving husband, father, and papaw and will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh Kyle and Lorene Cantwell; and mother-in-law, Beulah Clarkson. He is survived by his wife of thirty seven years, Sherry Cantwell; children, Kimberly (Wayne) Vanwinkle, Kevin (Tina) Cantwell, and Brooke (Drew) Burnette; grandchildren, Derek Davis, Leah Cantwell, Dean (Emily), Brooks, Moses, Isaiah, and Ruth Burnette, and Caleb (Sarah) Vanwinkle; great-granddaughter, Hannah Vanwinkle; brothers, Glenn (Judy) Cantwell and Otis (Kim) Cantwell; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Sunday, September 8th at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Masonic services will follow at 7 p.m. followed by the funeral service with Rev. Todd Haley officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10 a.m. Monday, September 9th at Hamblen Memory Gardens for graveside services. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the Shriner’s Children Hospital. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
