James Roy Galyon, age 81, of Morristown, passed away Friday, July 31, 2020 at the V.A. Medical Center in Johnson City. He was a member of Piney Grove Methodist Church in Mosheim. He was a veteran of The United States Army serving in Vietnam, receiving six Medals of Honor during his service. James served two active tours and one inactive tour. He retired from Duke Energy after 33 years with the company. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather and will be dearly missed by his family, friends and co-workers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Irene Galyon; and sister, Patsy Wofford. He is survived by his wife, Von Galyon; children, Helen (Michael) Francis, Jack Galyon, Jimmy (Jamie) Galyon, Johnny (Jenny) Galyon, and Yvonne (Scott) Long; brother, Kenny (Thuy) Galyon; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Monday, August 3rd at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 8 p.m. with Rev. Doug Brown and Rev. Tim Jones officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 4th at Jefferson Memorial Gardens for graveside services. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
