James “Jim” Fred Myers, age 77, of Talbott, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at his residence. He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church and was retired from Carson-Newman University after 28 years. Jim loved fishing, hunting, gardening, purple martins, apple butter, muskodines, and jellies. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bobby and Lois Hughes Myers; and father-in-law, Ray Morgan of Rutledge. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Kimela Denise Morgan Myers; son, Tony Myers (Melissa) of Talbott; grandsons, Bobby (Erica) Myers of Rutledge and Michael Myers of Jefferson City; great-grandson, Ezekiel Myers; mother-in-law and caregiver, Bonnie Morgan; brother-in-law, Gerald (Patty) Morgan of Rutledge; special niece, Brooke (Travis) Duke of White House, TN; and a host of cousins, church family, and special friends. The family extends special thanks to the staff of Amedysis Hospice. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Sunday, October 6th at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Tim Jones and Rev. Scott Cline officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11 a.m. Monday, October 7th at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Talbott for graveside services. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
