James "Jim" N. Thompson

James “Jim” N. Thompson, age 86, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2024. Jim and his wife, Marjorie, are longtime natives of Morristown TN. They moved to Bluffton, SC in 2016. Jim lived a long and joyful life. He deeply loved God and his wonderful family. Jim was a member of Holts Baptist Church where he was a trustee and sang in the choir. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Seal Thompson; his children, Vickie Lynn, Terri Edwards, Thomas Lawson (Stephanie), and Joy Lawson Voelkel (William); grandchildren, Amber Wilson, Stephanie Young, Andrew and Oliver Lawson, and Jackson, Walker and Stella Voelkel; and sister, Bobbie (Fred) Underwood. He was preceded in death by his son, Mark Thompson. Jim honorably served in the US Army. He worked and retired from several careers including Enka, Johnson Oil Company, and MAHLE. He was a loyal fan of Tennessee football and the Atlanta Braves. The family will receive friends from 1:30 – 3 p.m. Sunday, May 26th at Holt’s Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. at the church. Interment will follow at Holt’s Church Cemetery.   In lieu of flowers donations may be made in honor of Jim Thompson to Holts Baptist Church in Morristown, TN.
