Jay D. Ashley

Jay D. Ashley, age 75, of Bulls Gap, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at his residence. He was a member of Buffalo Trail Baptist Church and a member of Kyle Masonic Lodge #422. He was a loving son, husband, and father and will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Ashley; brother, Eddie Ashley; and nephew, Robert Ashley. He is survived by his wife, Alma Ashley; mother, Pearl Ashley; sons, Michael (Claudette) Ashley and Mark Ashley; daughter, Vicki Short; step-children, Lisa Greer, Roy (Teresa) Short, Michael (Sonya) Beach, and Melanie Wayne;  grandchildren, Michael (Pockey) Blanton and Stephanie (Noni) Bunch; three great-grandchildren; special great-grandson, Ethan Kyle Seay, Papaw’s special buddy; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday, September 21st at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Masonic services will be at 8 p.m. followed by the funeral service with Chaplain Leland Guin officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11 a.m. Friday, September 22nd at Hamblen Memory Gardens for graveside services. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
