Jesse Dale Spears, age 79, of Rutledge, formerly of Elkhorn City, KY, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at his residence with his family by his side. He was a member of Lick Creek Church of God in Kentucky and a retired coal miner. He loved classic cars, his family, and especially his grandbabies. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Spears and Malissa Francisco; son, Chad Spears; sister, Ann (Danny) Mullins; and niece, Tina Bailey. He is survived by his wife, Karen Spears; children, Joshua (Shala) Dalton, Miranda (Jonathan) Zydel, Jessica (Seth) Thompson, and Gage Griffith; sisters, Leisa (Lawrence) Rose and Leah (Zeb) Hampton; grandchildren, Camden Zydel, Corbin Zydel, Gabe Thompson, and Gracie Thompson; several nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Roger Williams; and special friends who were like family, Zendel (Pam) Dalton and Autumn Manning. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Amedisys Hospice of Morristown, especially Erica Eldridge for the excellent care they provided. The family will receive friends from 11a.m. – 1p.m. on Saturday, April 18th at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 1p.m. with Rev. B.B. Bishop and Jonathan Zydel officiating. Interment services will follow at Meadow Branch Cemetery. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
