John B. Rose, Jr.

John B. Rose, Jr., age 67, of Knoxville, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2026 at Serenity Hospice House. John was retired from the IT Department at the University of Tennessee after 35 years of dedicated service. Earlier in life, John played football for Carson-Newman College. He had two degrees, one from Carson-Newman and one from the University of Tennessee. John embraced adventure and the outdoors, enjoying activities such as hang gliding and playing and coaching the sport of rugby. His competitive spirit led him into the boxing ring where he competed in Golden Gloves Boxing, and later gave back to the sport while volunteering at the Ace Miller Golden Gloves. He was preceded in death by his parents, John B. Rose Sr. and Dorothy J. Rose; He is survived by his brother, Jack (Kris Anderson) Rose; sister, Patti (Clark) Hudgins; niece, Abby Hudgins; and special partner, Dolly Damron. The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 pm on Wednesday, March 11th at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 pm with Rev. Tim Jones officiating. Entombment services will follow at 2 pm at Jefferson Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
