John Edwin “Ed” Parnell, age 77, of Mooresburg, passed away Friday, December 31, 2021 at Serenity House after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Ed was born in Oneida, TN on November 1, 1944. He was a faithful member of Gills Chapel Baptist Church in Mooresburg. He worked for United Parcel Service for over twenty-seven years and enjoyed his front porch, being surrounded by his family, and golf in his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Edna Parnell; sister, Ann (Kelly) Adkins; step-son, Scott Setsor; sister-in-law, Dorothy Pearson; and brothers-in-law, Dwight Pearson, Dale Winstead, and Clay Winstead. He is survived by his wife, Ethel Parnell of Mooresburg; daughters, Lisa (Chuck) Norton of Charlotte, NC and Renee (Jon) Eiler of Knoxville; step-son, Chris (Kim) Setsor of Treadway; grandchildren, Erica (Matt) Taylor, Trey (Noelle) Norton, Andrew Norton, Cheyenne Harmon, and Caleb Setsor; great-grandchildren, Emma, Eli, and Mason Taylor, and Gunner and Kemper Harmon; brothers, Bob (Carolyn) Parnell of Wichita, Kansas and Mike (Doris) Parnell of Mooresville, Indiana; sister, Brenda Sue Parnell of San Francisco, California; brothers-in-law, Hobart Winstead and Lon Winstead; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Winstead and Irene Winstead; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Family and friends will meet at 2 p.m. Monday, January 3rd at Lovin Cemetery in Mooresburg for graveside services. Friends may pay their respects from 3 – 5 p.m. on Sunday, January 2nd at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the Serenity Hospice House: 421 N.
