Joseph M. Bucolo, age 82, of Morristown, passed away Monday, May 25, 2020 at his residence. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and worked at the Goddard Space Flight Center as a technical engineer working on early space flight shuttles and the Lunar Lander. He retired from N.I.H. (National Institute of Health) in Bethesda, Maryland and moved to Tennessee in 2005. Although he was of the Catholic faith, he attended Kidwell’s Ridge Baptist Church with his wife. He was also active in the Morristown Senior Citizen’s Center. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents, Joseph and Grace Bucolo; and brother and sister-in-law, Theodore and Elizabeth Bucolo. He is survived by his wife, Mary Bucolo; children, Tina Bucolo, Judith Bucolo, Joseph II (Gaylene) Bucolo, and Michael Bucolo; grandchildren, John Bucolo and Kayla Bucolo; and sister, Annette Hayes. The family will receive friends from 1 -2 p.m. Thursday, May 28th at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. with Rev. Jeff Odom officiating. Private family interment will follow at Long and Berry Cemetery in Bulls Gap. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the Morristown Senior Citizen’s Center.
