Juanita Irene (Stubblefield) Franklin

Juanita Stubblefield Franklin, age 98, of Morristown, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at Life Care Center of Morristown. A resident of Morristown for over 75 years, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Turner Franklin. Juanita is survived by her two daughters, Sandra Franklin Hutton (Bruce) of Morristown, TN and Terri Franklin Dountz (Doug) of Albertville, AL. Mrs. Franklin was a loving grandmother to Michael Ray Morrison (Jennifer) of Albertville, AL, Terri Morrison Straw (Kris) of Alpharetta, GA, and Benjamin Taylor Dountz (Brandi) of Panama City Beach, FL; and a loving great grandmother to Molly and Katy Morrison, Christopher and Turner Straw, and Zoe and Mia Dountz. Mrs. Franklin was preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Elsie Stubblefield of Mooresburg, TN and her 5 siblings: Virgina Stubblefield Cannon, Mary Ann Stubblefield Baker, Roy Lynn Stubblefield, Dennis Stubblefield, and Dan “Junior” Stubblefield. Mrs. Franklin was a long-standing member of Morristown’s First United Methodist Church, having attended the church for over 60 years. She enjoyed many lifelong friendships with her church family, and even traveled the country with the Singles’ Group. Mrs. Franklin enjoyed a longtime career in education, retiring from John Hay Elementary School after serving as a teaching assistant for almost 25 years. She was an avid card game player and enjoyed her Bridge Club for over 50 years. Also known for her love of music and dancing, she was a longtime member of Morristown’s Square Dance Club. She also loved Ballroom dance and will long be remembered for performing The Waltz to her favorite tune, The Tennessee Waltz, at her granddaughter’s wedding. The family will receive friends from 12 – 1 p.m. Monday, July 8th at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Rev. Dennie Humphreys officiating. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at Jefferson Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, financial contributions may be made in memory of Juanita Franklin to the American Heart Association.  Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
