Kathy Jean (Spheers) Jones

Kathy Jean Jones, born May 3rd, 1955. Kathy was a loving wife, mother, nana, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. After many years of a courageous battle with lung cancer, she passed very peacefully at her home surrounded by her loved ones on August 3, 2024. Kathy was married to James “Jimmy” Jones, her best friend for 45 years. Kathy had two children, Christy and Michael, whom she loved very dearly; granddaughter, Kenize Lynn and grandson, Nicholas, who were her world. She also had two great- grand children, Laramee Grace and Dallas Gail that brought her so much joy! Kathy was strong, sassy, and caring. She loved spending time with family and working in her flower beds. She had a beautiful smile, a big- loving heart, always gave her family the biggest hugs, and offered support and guidance when we needed it the most. Preceded in death by her husband, James “Jimmy” Jones; son, Michael Ray Jordan; parents, Hiram and Mildred Spheers; sisters, Linda Rines, Joyce Jordan, and Wilma Haun; brothers Bennie, David, Harold, Joe Allan, and Tom Spheers; and Candie Lynn, her fur-baby.
Kathy is survived by her daughter, Christy (Jeramy) Shope; grandchildren, Mackenize Hipshire (Phillip Byington), Nicholas (Emilee) King, Austin ( Jordyn) Crabill, and Houston ( Kaleigh) Crabill; great- great granddaughters, Laramee Grace King and Dallas Gail Crabill; sister, Bobbie Rowland; brother Troy (Toby) Spheers; and many nieces and nephews, as well as many special great-grand nephews, along with many friends. Kathy’s family would like to extend the most heartfelt appreciation for the attentiveness and compassion and care provided by Gentvia. Family, friends, and others whose life Kathy has touched are invited to reminisce, grieve, support each other and of course to share memories of Kathy on Wednesday, August 7th at Westside Chapel Funeral Home from 5:00pm - 7:00pm with funeral services to follow at 7 p.m. officiated by Rev. Charles Simpson of Thornhill Baptist Church. Family and friends will meet at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 8th at Bent Creek Cemetery in Whitesburg for graveside services.Honorary pallbearers: Jeramy Shope, Nicholas King, Austin Crabill, Houston Crabill, Troy Spheers, Phillip Byington.
