Kenneth L. Collins, of Talbott, formerly of Jonesville, VA, passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System after a courageous battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Gladys Miles Collins of Jonesville, Virginia; sister, Jean Schoof; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Hobe and Verde Lamb of Sneedville. Ken is survived by his wife, Catherine “Cathy” Collins; brother, Jerry Collins; sisters, Thelma Mehaffey, Judy Welch, and Kathy Collins; and a host of nieces and nephews and a multitude of dear friends. Ken was a decorated Vietnam veteran, serving in the U.S. Army for his beloved country with great pride and honor. He worked for Jeffrey Chain Corporation for forty years. His greatest joys in life were fishing with his father, four-wheeling with the Lamb boys, digging ginseng with Mr. Hobe, and taking care of his four-legged children, Pixie and Blu. Kenneth may never have heard the words, “Welcome home” after returning from the Vietnam War, but we know for sure that he heard his Lord saying, “Welcome Home my Child.” Kenneth was not a man of many words, but he was a good man with a tender, loving heart. His family, friends, and loving church family will forever feel his absence. Ken asked to be laid to rest with his brothers-in-arms. Family and friends will meet at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, May 4th at East Tennessee State Veteran’s Cemetery in Knoxville for military graveside services. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
