Larry Buchanan, Sr., age 83, of Russellville, passed away Sunday, December 26, 2021 at his residence after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his father, Everett Buchanan; mother, Lillian Griffith; brother, Bucky Buchanan; and several aunts and uncles. He is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Sarah Buchanan; son, Larry (Pam) Buchanan, Jr.; grandsons, Aaron (Nicole) Buchanan and Jarrod Buchanan; and great-grandson, Nikolai Buchanan. Larry was of the Baptist faith and attended Rocky Point Baptist Church. He retired in 1977 after proudly serving in the U.S. Army for twenty-two and a half years. He served in Vietnam from 1966 – 1967 and was a lifetime member of the DAV. After moving to Russellville in 1977, he attended TCAT. After receiving his Machinist I Diploma, he worked for Rockwell International until he retired in 1995. He was very active in the Hamblen County Republican Party where he served as Vice-Treasurer for a number of years. He passed knowing he had lived a blessed life. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 29th at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Ross Woody officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 30th at Hamblen Memory Gardens for military graveside services.
