Lawrence (L.C.) C. Taylor Sr., age 87, passed away Friday, September 23, 2022. Originally from Tucson, AZ & Hobbs, NM, LC honorably served in the United States Army and was deployed to Korea during the Korean War. He had called his beloved East Tennessee home for the past 60 years. LC’s faith was strong and he is now in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ. LC was a common man who lived an uncommon life. He truly never met a stranger. From humble beginnings, through ups & downs in his amazing life, LC treated everyone the same and cared not about your creed, color or balance sheet. All through his life, LC loved his family with all his heart. Nothing was more important to him than his family. However, his friends were a close second and he truly valued & cherished these friendships, many of which began 50 or more years ago. Loving wife Joyce and the family wish to thank their friends for their love, care and support over the years. With love, determination & persistence, LC & Joyce built a nice life together. Thru thick & thin Joyce was by his side, made his life worth living and, as he knew very well, was responsible for extending his life many, many years. LC inherited his love of golf from his Dad and some of his best memories were made on the course. Little made him happier than 18 holes with his buddies and, of course, telling a few tall tales over a post round beverage. In his working life LC founded and operated L.C. Taylor Construction Company and was later co-founder of Shop at Home Network. LC poured his heart and soul into both of these ventures and numerous other businesses over the years. LC’s family wishes to thank the physicians, their office staffs & home health care providers for their compassionate care. LC was member of Manley Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, H.H. Jack & Rosalie Taylor. Survivors include wife, Joyce Taylor; sons, Lawrence Taylor (Lorrie), Jeffrey Taylor (Ashley), and Dan Cox (Susie); grandchildren, Brooke Banks (Daniel), Bailey Mery (Jacob), Isabelle Taylor & Kristina Taylor; and great-grandchildren, Jase Clark & Addy Sue Mery. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 27th at Manley Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Dr. Tony Buchanan and Rev. Alan Duncan officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 28th at Hamblen Memory Gardens for graveside services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Manley Baptist Church Building Fund, St. Jude’s Hospital, or Serenity House. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
