Leon Nicely, age 75, of Morristown, passed away Sunday, February 7, 2021 at his residence. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Leon was loved and cherished by all. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of fifty-one years, Ruby “Mildred” Nicely; parents, Clarence and Hazel Sampson Nicely; brothers, Jim Nicely and Buster Nicely; infant brother, Billy Gene Nicely; infant sister, Betty Ruth Nicely; son, Kenneth Darin Carpenter; and daughter, Leona Michelle Nicely. He is survived by his daughter, Karen (Bobby) Owens; brother, Roger (Jean) Nicely; sisters, Cathy (Andy) Bunch, Peggy (Bill) Skellinger, Louise Mabe, Kay (Eddie) Nicely, Mary Miller, Bobbie Heath, Patsy (Dave) Muncey, and Loretta (Roy) Graves; grandchildren, Kimberly King, Ashley (Anthony) Sauceman, Joshua Kinsler, Jennifer (Johnny) Cooper, Danyelle Carpenter, Darin Carpenter, Brandon Kinsler, and Peyton Carpenter; great-grandchildren, Landon Holman, Cameron and Austin King, Regan and Izac Sauceman, Bentley and Kayelynn Cooper, Kaylee Carpenter, Nevaeh and Annabelle Carpenter, and Amelia Ruby Kinsler, due in May. Special thanks to Shirley Brookes and Rita White. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, February 10th at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Truman Coffey and Rev. Clayton Coffey officiating. Family and friends will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday, February 11th at Carpenter Cemetery in Sneedville for military graveside services. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
