Loren Ray Kranz, age 87, of Talbott, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Monday, August 11, 2025. Born in Elmore, Ohio, he was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Ruth Kranz; and his sister, Jean Kranz Watren. Loren is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Brenda Davis Kranz; sons, Rick Kranz of Gold Hill, NC and Dean Kranz of Boynton Beach, FL; stepchildren, Duane Allred of Talbott and Deanne (Jim) Whetsel of Russellville; grandchildren, Kyle Kranz, Rachel Closner, Graysen Whetsel, and Caroline Whetsel; and great-grandchildren, Isaiah and Julia Closner. He is also survived by his sisters, Audrey Bruggeman, Ethel Baruxes, and Carol Kramer; along with many cherished nieces and nephews. Loren proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy Seabees during the Vietnam era, an experience he held close to his heart. After his military service, he enjoyed a long and successful career with Roadway Express before retiring. Loren will be remembered for his strength, dedication to family, and unwavering faith. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. The family will receive friends from 4 – 6 p.m. Monday, August 18th at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 6 p.m. with Rev. Heath Smith officiating. Family and friends will meet at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 19th at Jefferson Memorial Gardens for graveside services. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to Alpha Baptist Church or the Tennessee Baptist Disaster Relief Fund—two organizations close to Loren’s heart.
