Marjorie “Margie” Juanita Barnette, age 65, of Whitesburg, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 1, 2022 at Greeneville East Community Hospital. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she faithfully taught and loved children for many years. Margie was an educator at several Christian and County schools throughout her teaching career. She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, and friend to many and will be dearly missed. She was preceded by her parents, James and Shirley Barnette; grandparents, Walter and Tava Barnette and Hubert and Virgie French; and several aunts and uncles. She is survived by her sister, Virgie (James) Green; brother, Carroll (Rose) Barnette; nieces, Kristin (Noah) Smith, Brittany Barnette, and Kelsey (Ronnie) Farmer; nephew, Tyler (Deszarae) Barnette; several great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins; her heart-son, Jonathan; and special friends, Judi Wood and Dee Willis. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Thursday, May 5th at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Dr. Larry Parrott, Rev. Franklin Barnette, and Rev. Richard Long officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11 a.m. Friday, May 6th at Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Russellville for graveside services. In lieu of flowers, the family will provide a container for anyone to bring books for children or for donations to The Samaritans Purse for Operation Christmas Child.
