Marvin Sanford Blanton: On August 24, 2023 at approximately 1:02 pm, Marvin gained his wings and took his heavenly flight. He was born Marvin Sanford Blanton on October 21, 1957 to Lillie Blanton Howard and the late Ransom McCall in Harlan, Kentucky. Marvin was a graduate of Harlan Independent High School class of 1976. He was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Sonya Marie “ReRe” Fiitzgerald. To this union one son was born, Marvin Jr. “Stanker” who is the center of their lives. He was employed by Cantron Construction for over twenty-four years, B.O.S for seven years, and later employed by Dr. Ronald and Patricia Bonnett until 2019. He was very well known and a pillar to his community and the City of Morristown. He was preceded in death by his father, Ransom; and brothers, Sherman Eugene and Kevin “Bo” Blanton. He leaves to cherish his memories, loving, caring, and devoted wife, Sonya for over forty-three years; son, Marvin Jr.; grandson TayShaun; granddaughter, Briella; his mother, Lillie Blanton Howard; sisters, Tammy, SamElla, Charlamane, and Sorka Blanton, all of Morristown, TN; uncles; William (Marilyn) Blanton, Jimmy Thompson, Bobby (Claudia) Thompson, and Terry Blanton; a special aunt, Maryetta Young from Ann Arbor, MI; his God-daughter, Nyiesha Gholston of Orlando, FL; bonus son, Christopher Easterly; sisters-in-law, Della Butler of Harlan, KY, Teressa Gholston of Lexington, KY, and Audrey Massey of Harlan, KY; devoted and best friends, Michelle Robinson and Michael Rhodes of Harlan, KY; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends too numerous to name. The family will receive friends from 1 – 2 p.m. Thursday, August 31st at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. with Bishop Anthony Span officiating. Interment will follow at Bethesda Cemetery. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
