Mildred "Ruby" (Carpenter) Nicely

Mildred “Ruby” Nicely, age 68, of Morristown, departed this life on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System. She was a member of Friendly View Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth D. Carpenter; daughter, Leona Michelle Nicely; parents, Velta and Freda Carpenter; brothers, Buster, Fred, Reford, Homer, and Idol Carpenter; and sisters, Bonnie Coffey and Sue Seals. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Leon Nicely; daughter, Karen Sue Owens; 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Brooks, Stella Seals, Maxine Hodge, and Geneva Bunch; brothers, Larry, Bruce, Claude, and Williard “Bill” Carpenter; very special friend and sister, Rita White; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Tuesday, November 24th at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 pm Tuesday with Rev. Truman Coffey and Rev. Justin Winstead officiating. Family and friends will meet for a 2 pm graveside service on Wednesday, November 25th at Carpenter Cemetery in Sneedville.
