Mildred "Alberta" (Wampler) Hollifield

Mildred “Alberta” Hollifield, age 82, of Morristown, passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at her residence. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed. Alberta was always there for her family and everyone else as well. She volunteered at the Boy’s Club, Mother’s Club, Central Services “Toys for Tots,” and the Juvenile Probation Services. She loved going to flea markets and yard sales and loved going to the Auction House where she made many life-long friends. Alberta was family oriented, spoke her mind, and loved with her whole heart. She was so proud of her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard “Pops” Hollifield; fiancé, Vincent Pishner; parents, Roy Lee and Rosa Lee Wampler; brother, Alvin Wampler; sisters, Alice Henrietta Collins and Livona Charlene Long; loving daughter, Sharon Deloris Mayes; and special friend, Sybil Short. She is survived by her children, Gwen Hayes, Sam (Heather) Strange, Shelia Adams, Laura Strange, and Darrell (Stephanie) Strange; grandchildren, Stoney, Jr., Crystal, Scottie, Misty, Chris, Josh, Justin, Jimmy, Jamie, Jasmine, Jennifer, Reba, Kenny, Jr., Victoria, Allen, Bradley, Dustin, Ashley, and Damien; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and special friend, Eula Mae Young. Special thanks to Amedisys Hospice and Emma McCracken, Adam Niday, and Caydence Spencer. The family will receive friends from 2 – 4 p.m. Sunday, June 21st at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m. with Rev. Terry Henry and Bobby Davis officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11 a.m. Monday, June 22nd at Hamblen Memory Gardens for graveside services.
