Nina Lea Maxwell, age 84, of Morristown, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at her residence. She was a member of Thankful Baptist Church. Nina was a truly wonderful woman who was loyal, kind, and sweet to everyone she met. She never met a stranger and had a way of making people feel welcome and valued wherever she went. Her warmth and kind spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew her. She had a deep love for life’s simple joys, especially working with her flowers, thrifting, and spending time going to yard sales. Nina was also a great cook, often bringing family and friends together through meals made with love. She was devoted and hard working, retiring as Regional Director of Douglas Cherokee Head Start. She cherished her time there and had a special place in her heart for the children she served. Above all, Nina loved her family deeply. She was the backbone and strength of her family – a steady, dependable presence whose love and support never wavered. She will be remembered for her compassion, strength, and the love she gave so freely. She was preceded in death by her husband, Barry Maxwell; sons, Gary Maxwell and Jackie Maxwell; daughter, Teresa Davis; sisters, Rita Brooks and Betty Mullins; and grandson-in-law, Mike Harness. She is survived by her son, Kim Maxwell; grandchildren, Brad (Julie) Maxwell, Lacey (Jerry) Turner, Jason (Janice) Davis, Jeremy (Lindsay) Maxwell, and Josh (Mallory) Strange; several great-grandchildren; brother, Charlie (Izetta) Fleming; and several nieces, nephews, and special friends. The family will receive friends from 12 – 2 p.m. Sunday, March 22nd at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. with Rev. Barry Warren and Rev. Jack Greene officiating. Interment will follow at Bethesda Cemetery. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
