Peggy Joyce (Beets) Cross

Peggy Joyce Cross, age 83, of Talbott, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2024 at her residence. Peggy was loved by all who knew her, whether you worked with her at G.E. for twenty five years or you were blessed enough to call her family. She loved the Lord and was saved at age 12 in Knoxville and was a faithful member of Alpha Baptist Church for over fifty years where she especially enjoyed her women’s Sunday School class. Peggy loved her lunch dates and outings with her long-time best friends. What was most important to Peggy was her family. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her life. The unconditional love and devotion she showed them for the last fifty eight years is her legacy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Margaret Beets; brother, Everett Ray “Skip” Beets, Jr.; and sister, Vernice Crittenden. She is survived by her husband, Clifford Cross; son, Steve (Kim) Cross; daughters, Sharon (Eric) Denton and Sandy (Rick) Trent; grandchildren, Heather (David) Williams, Halle Cross, Lukas Denton, Ashley Hayes, Aaron Trent and fiance’, Jordan Howerton, Jacob Trent, and Courtney (Roy) Wallace; great-grandchildren, Remi, Jace, Walker, Conor, Graham, and Emmy; special nieces, Dee Dee Whitaker, Debbie Vandergriff, and Deana Linkous; special nephew, Robbie Beets; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Thursday, July 25th at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Shannon Atkins and Rev. Rick Witt officiating. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 26th at Hamblen Memory Gardens. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
