Mrs. Peggy FitzGerald Standifer, of Talbott, TN, received her complete healing and entered her heavenly home on February 18th, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. Peggy was born in Nashville, TN to her loving parents James Penny and Margaret FitzGerald on January 5th, 1949. She graduated from Tyner High School in Chattanooga, TN in 1967 where she met the love of her life and future husband, Steve Standifer. Peggy and Steve attended the University of Tennessee together after high school and later married in Chattanooga, TN on September 11th, 1971. They both loved to talk about how fun it was to live in married student housing at UT. In 1972 they moved to Morristown, TN where they began their careers and started a family. They welcomed a daughter named Stacey in 1974 and a son named Rob in 1977. Steve and Peggy made many moves during Steve’s career in furniture manufacturing and thankfully she was always up for new adventures. Peggy worked as an executive assistant, office manager, in newspaper ad sales and real estate over the course of her career. Peggy loved the Lord with all her heart and had publicly professed her faith through baptism. Peggy was a member of Manley Baptist Church in Morristown, TN since 2014. She was always willing to serve wherever needed. Peggy was a loving mother to Stacey & her husband Joe and Rob & his wife Amy Jill. She was a doting and adoring grandmother to Brynnan & her husband Jake, Carsyn, Colton, Cavan, Amelia, Sophia, Rosalie and Scarlett. She always supported them in their academics, sports and hobbies. She loved nothing more than spoiling grandbabies and teaching them “bad tricks”. Peggy was an avid fan of the Tennessee Volunteers, especially football, basketball, baseball and softball. Steve and Peggy were football season ticket holders for many years and spent many Saturdays in Neyland Stadium with their children, friends and grandchildren. Peggy’s favorite colors were Tennessee Orange and Summit Blue and her favorite song was Rocky Top. She loved to tell everyone- “My blood runs orange!” Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, James Penny and Margaret (Gardner) FitzGerald; sister & brother-in-law, Ann (FitzGerald) and Bill Eppes; father & mother-in-law, Bob and Aleen (Massey) Standifer; sister-in-law, Sarah Sue Standifer; brother-in-law, Wayne Potter; lifelong best friend Dot Kuhne (Mike) and many friends from her beloved Tyner High School Class of 1967.
