Peggy Sue Hazelwood, age 82, of Talbott, Tennessee, passed away at the home of her son, Mike Hazelwood, on April 23, 2026. She was born on July 10, 1943 in Morristown, Tennessee. She was known for her unwavering love for God. Her generosity and vibrant humor were unmatched. She was known for her support for church activities; always wanting to provide home-cooked meals for whatever the event. She served as a Sunday school teacher and a G.A Leader (Girls in Action) - a Baptist missions discipleship organization for girls in grades 1–6. In her earlier years, she was part of a traveling quartet that sang gospel songs at various churches. One of her hobbies was square-dancing (once performed at the World’s Fair in Knoxville TN in 1982). She is survived by her children, Michael Hazelwood (wife – Angela “Hickey” Hazelwood) and Marty Hazelwood; grandchildren, Danielle “Hazelwood” Kinder (husband, Josh Kinder), Erik Hazelwood (wife, Emily “Hodge” Hazelwood), Lucas Hazelwood, and Logan Hickey (wife, Whittney Hickey; great-grandchildren, Naomi Kinder, Maggie Kinder, Theo Kinder, Henry Hazelwood, Ruth- Ann Hazelwood, Landon Hickey, and Klayton Hickey. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, L.B. Hazelwood; parents, George Carson and Maggie (Phagan) Carson of Morristown, Tennessee; and brother, Kelsie Carson of Orange, Texas. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 2nd at 11:00 am at Liberty Hill Methodist Church Cemetery. Services to be conducted by Pastor Ron Simmers. Special appreciation to: friend, Etta Feezell who showed unwavering love. Peggy loved her like a sister. Friends, Ed and Debbie Wallace who provided tremendous support to Peggy. Bette Peach (All Ways Caring Homecare) who “Went the extra mile” and developed a friendship with Peggy during her last month’s/days of life that meant so much…much appreciated!
