Rev. Earl Houston Cummings, age 83, of Morristown, went home to be with Jesus on December 22, 2025. He was born September 27, 1942 to Rev. Audley and Catherine Cummings. He married Carolyn Sue Newman on July 6, 1963. He was pastor of several churches in the area and was a member of Morningside Baptist Church. He retired from Highlands Industrial Millwright and Maintenance after many years in the propane gas business. He loved to share about his Savior, his family, sports, and spending time with his great-grandsons Josiah and Jonathan.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Carolyn; his parents; and brothers, Lester and Bobby Cummings; sister, Sue (O.L) Davis; sisters-in-law, Jo (Randol) Burton and Irma (Eddie) Eidson; brothers-in-law, O.L. Davis, Wayne, Jim, Larry, and Steve Newman, and Robert Davenport, and Maurice Greer. He will be dearly missed by his children, Paige (Kevin) Rogers and Lance (Heather) Cummings; grandchildren, Casey (Davin) Hatfield, Alex (Sarah) Rogers, Erin (Austin) Lawson, and Matt Cummings, great-grandsons, Josiah Hatfield and Jonathan Rogers; great-granddaughter, baby Lawson on the way; sisters-in-law, Sandra Cummings, Gail Cummings, Connie Greer, Gwen (Richard) Russell, Debbie McPeek, Sherry Davenport, and Sandra Newman; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. The family wishes to extend heartfelt appreciation to Gentiva Hospice and his nurse, Judy for their care and love during his final days. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Sunday, December 28th at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Randy Epps and Dr. Kenny Boling officiating. Family and friends will meet at 1 p.m. Monday, December 29th at Hamblen Memory Gardens for graveside services. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
