Sherman R. Brady, Jr., age 78, of Morristown, passed away Sunday, May 7, 2023 at his residence. He was a retired Battalion Chief on the A-Shift and served over thirty years for the City of Morristown Fire Department. He loved his job and his co-workers were his extended family, leaving an impact on the fire department community. Sherman was a hard-worker, a handy man, a jack-of-all-trades, a practical joker, and a softball coach. He played football in high school and was offered a scholarship to play at the University of Alabama. Above all else, he loved his family and his pride and joy was his grandson, Carson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sherman, Sr. and Rachel Brady; brothers, James Tipton Brady and Ronald Lee Brady; and sisters, Mary Belle Brady and Juanita Joyce Brogan. He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Judy Brady; sons, Sherman Neil Brady and Barry (Tonya) Brady; daughter, April (Gary) Jones; grandchildren, Carson Brady Jones, Haley Brooke (Gaitlin) Smith, and Tasha LaShae (Nick) Lamb; and three great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 10th at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Brian Rhodes and Rev. Don Lamb officiating. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 11th at Jefferson Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
