Shirley (Thayer) Way

Shirley Thayer Way, age 81, of Morristown, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at Jefferson City Health and Rehab Center. She was a member of Manley Baptist Church. Shirley loved dancing and playing cards with her friends, gardening, boating, and anything outdoors. She was a loving mother, nana, and sister and will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther “Benson” Way; parents, Laurence and Mary Ellen Thayer; sisters-in-law, Debbie Thayer and Linda (Randy) Range; and brother-in-law, Lynn Nelson. She is survived by her son, Shawn (Olivia) Way; grandchildren, Emma Way and Rhett Way; brother, Steve Thayer; sister, Linda Nelson; and brother-in-law, Ed Way. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 3rd at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Brad Thayer officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 4th at Hamblen Memory Gardens for graveside services. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
