Steve Ivey, age 78, of Bean Station, passed away Thursday, August 14, 2025 at his residence. He was a member of Barnards Grove Baptist Church. Steve was employed for many years in the grade business as a heavy equipment operator, with the backhoe being his favorite machine to operate. He retired from Lakeway Recycling and Sanitation as an operator and industrial landfill manager. However, his favorite job came after retirement when he was able to be a fulltime “Pop” to his grandchildren, Gypsy and Jude. He made many lasting memories driving Gypsy to rodeos, horse shows, building fences, and just hanging out in the field. Pop especially enjoyed “Dom” the donkey. Jude was his best buddy and they spent many afternoons driving the back roads scouting for project tractor parts, tinkering with anything mechanical, and Sunday lunches together. Steve loved life and lived it to the fullest. Even through his struggles, he kept a positive attitude. He will be remembered for his ability to talk with anyone, his sense of humor and quick wit, and his willingness to always lend a helping hand. He will be deeply missed, but we have the assurance through his faith, that he is with the Lord and the loved ones who have gone on before. He now knows only joy and we will see him again. He was preceded in death by his father, Bruce Ivey; mother and step-father, Edna “Patty” and Alfred Ricker; and brothers, Don Ivey, Stanley Ivey, and Charles Ricker. He is survived by his devoted wife of forty two years and best friend, Cherrie Ivey; daughter, who stole his heart the minute he first saw her, Stephanie Rose; special son-in-law, Philip Rose; beloved granddaughter, Gypsy “Stevie” Rose; grandson, Jude Rose; sister and brother whose calls always made his day, Joyce Frye of Talbott and Dan (Diane) Ivey of Zenia, OH; and several special nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors. The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Richard Carter and staff for the trusted and excellent care, compassion, and encouragement throughout the years. Also to East TN Nephrology for their consistent care and dialysis center visits, the Knoxville Kidney Center and staff for their support through the years, and Morristown Fresenius Dialysis Center. Steve was so appreciative for all they did for him. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Monday, August 18th at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Dr. Richard Carter officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 19th at Hamblen Memory Gardens Mausoleum for entombment services with Rev. Paul Whaley officiating. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
