Tom Stickle, age 81, of Morristown, passed away early Monday morning, January 3, 2022 after a brief illness at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System. He was preceded in death by his parents, William “Buddy” and Glenna Hussong Stickle of Dayton, OH; and sister-in-law, Beverly McVity Sander of Woodstock, GA. He leaves behind his wife of fifty-eight years, Marcia; two daughters, Tina Stickle (Norman) Theriot of Supply, NC and Julie (Jon) Kubler of Vandalia, OH; granddaughter, Stacie Brown and great-grandson, Luke Brown of St. Paris, OH; brother-in-law, William Sander of Woodstock, GA; nephew, Mike (Lynne) Sander of Springboro, OH; nieces, Kim (Dave) Boyd of Farmville, NC, Kelly (Tom) Corsetti and Keri (Todd) Blanks, both of Atlanta, GA; and several great-nieces and great nephews. In Tom’s early years in high school, he trained as a meat cutter in Dayton, Ohio and began racing boats as a hobby. He made a hobby a profession and became a professional race boat driver and was elected two years to the Gulf Marine Racing Hall of Fame. This career led him to the Marine Industry where Tom became a highly successful Manufacturers Representative for several boat companies. From there he became a crew chief for the team of “Seabold Racing” and the team was very successful both in the U.S. and several countries in Europe. Tom was very respected in the Marine Industry as an honest, knowledgeable, and trustworthy man. He was a terrific, fun, and smart husband and a great and fun “Daddy” with his two daughters, who much of the early years traveled with him to the boat races. Tom had friends all over the U.S. and Europe and will be missed by that community. His friends here in Morristown knew him as a fun, loving, and light hearted man and they all have a “Tom Stickle Story” to tell. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 8th at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. If you are unable to attend, please, at 2:45 p.m., raise a red solo cup and toast Tom. The family would like to thank the staff at Amedysis Home Healthcare (James, Erika, Sue, and Tasha), the Heritage Center (Stephanie), and Morristown Hamblen Healthcare System (Ashley), for all the love they showed Tom. As Tom was a true American Patriot with a big heart for the Military, Police, Firemen, and First Responders, in lieu of flowers, please donate to “Tunnel 2 Towers” foundation or the “Wounded Warriors Project.” Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
