Vala Lois “Peggie” Wampler Dawson, age 88, of Jefferson City, passed away on November 16, 2025. Peggie was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Carrie Wampler; her husband of 65 years, Donald Dawson; her sisters, Ruth Western Hubbard, Bessie Reynolds DeLeonardo, and Kate Wampler; brother, James “Buddy” Wampler; and half-brother, Wayne Wampler. She was a member of Mill Springs Baptist Church and formerly a 20+ year employee of Jefferson Middle School Cafeteria. Her earthly treasures included her four children, 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She had an infectious laugh that brought a smile to everyone around her and was a well-regarded home cook whose specialties included pumpkin pie, potato salad, deviled eggs, pimento cheese, and holiday dressing. She is survived by her children, Debbie Hatmaker of Athens, GA, Donna (Jeff) Hubbard of Jefferson City, David (Gretchen) Dawson of Prosper, TX, and Denise (Greg) Lindsey of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Joel (Sara) Hatmaker, Julie (Jason) Holt, Colin (Laura) Hatmaker, Katie (Nick) Workman, Carrie (Tony) Williams, Will Lindsey, Sarah Dawson, Lydia (Cristian) Toledano, Andrew (Lauren) Dawson, Jacob (Hannah) Lindsey, and Chloe Lindsey; great-grandchildren, Dawson & Sawyer Holt, Zoey, Nolan, and Levi Workman, Dot and Daisy Hatmaker, Amelia Williams, Charlotte and Henry Dawson, Mateo Toledano (and baby Toledano due in May 2026), Finn Hatmaker, and Rosie Lindsey. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 19th at Mill Springs Baptist Church in Jefferson City. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Dr. Greg Lindsey officiating. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 20th at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Jefferson City. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mill Springs Baptist Church in Jefferson City TN. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
