Velma Lee Gibson

Velma Lee Gibson, age 78, of Morristown, went home to be with Jesus on Friday, August 1, 2025 at her residence surrounded by family and friends. She was a member of Saving Grace Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Gibson; daughter, Cathy Owens; son, Edward Allen Gibson; mother, Eula Sexton; father, James Shopshire; and sister, Dorothy Simmons. She is survived by her sons, James (Peggy) Gibson of Rutledge, Tommy (Debbie) Willford of Morristown, and Scott Gibson of Morristown; sister, Marie (Kenny) Yount of Bulls Gap; special friend, Bob; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 5th at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Gary Emery and Rev. Lewis Lynn officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 6th at Little Redeemed Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery for graveside services. Pallbearers will be Parlon Gibson, Colin Rickard, Alex Stubblefield, Michael Gibson, Connor Simms, and Trevor Gibson. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
