Victor "Doug" Douglas Covington

Victor Douglas “Doug” Covington, age 67, of Tazewell, formerly of Morristown, passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at Tennova North Medical Center in Powell surrounded by his family. He was a member of Central Baptist Church. His family owned and operated Covington Furniture Company and he also worked at England Outlet Furniture in Tazewell. Doug loved golfing and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor Lloyd and Grace Covington; and sister, Brenda Gail King. He is survived by his wife of twenty-nine years, Sybil Covington; special nephew, Scott Purkey; one niece; and several nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Friday, August 23rd at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Bryan Collins officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 24th at Fairview Cemetery in New Tazewell for graveside services with Rev. Tommy Russell officiating. Pallbearers will be Mark Ellison, Todd Conway, Joey Hawkins, Randy Ramsey, Sim Stewart, and Lynn Breeding. Honorary pallbearers are David Lowe, Steve Cruey, Dr. Fred Hurst, and Wayne Bull.
