William “Bill” Leonard Cottrell, Jr., age 81, of Knoxville, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2024 at his residence. Bill was saved in his twenties and was a member of New Freedom Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Crick Cottrell; father, William Leonard Cottrell, Sr.; sister, Dorothy “Dottie” Puckett; son-in-law, J.C. Morgan; and grandmother, Bopal Gray. He is survived by his son, Doug (Cindy) Cottrell; daughter, Pamela Morgan; son, Bryan (Mandy) Cottrell; grandchildren, Jordan (Brittany) Cottrell, Elyse (Joshua) Overton, William Jacob (Autumn) Cottrell, Zachary (Brittany) Cottrell, Adam Morgan, Emily (Michael) Buchanan, and Anny (Caleb) Wingo; twelve great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Bobby Puckett; siblings, Brenda (John) Beal, David Cottrell, and Robin Oakley; several nieces and nephews; and life-long friend and caregiver, Robert Watson. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Sunday, March 17th at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Ralph Morgan officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11 a.m. Monday, March 18th at New Freedom Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery for graveside services. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
