William "Bill" Max Tobie

William “Bill” Max Tobie, age 81, of Morristown, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2025 at his residence. He was a member of New Beginnings Baptist Church. Bill retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad and enjoyed farming, going to the flea market, coin collecting, and playing cards at the Senior Citizen Center. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, neighbor, and friend and will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Lawrence and Ada Tobie; brothers, Donald Tobie, David Tobie, and Alfred Tobie; and sister, Janice Morgan. He is survived by his wife of thirty eight years, Wanda Sue Tobie; son, Mickey (Jodi) Tobie; step-daughters, Darla Parton, Carla (Mitch) Keaton, and Melanie Diane Strickland; granddaughter, Alexis (Jonathan) Melton; step-grandchildren, Allen Prus, Sydney Parton, Mindy Strickland, Willie Strickland, and James Taylor; several great-grandchildren; sisters, Betsy Manis and Kathleen Tobie; special friends, Dave Carroll, Phillip Smith, Jackie Haynes, Brian Garry, and Stan Hickey; and several nieces, nephews, and special friends. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 26th at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Bill Manning officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 27th at Jarnagin Cemetery for graveside services with Rev. Tim Jones officiating. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
