Charles Benton Havely, age 84, of Morristown, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at his daughter’s home in Morristown. Benton was a member of West View Baptist Church in Morristown. One of his proudest accomplishments was his service in the Navy during the Korean War. Benton was preceded in death by his wife, Betty McKinney Havely; daughter, Kathy Bunch; and two beloved pets, Abbey and Ol’Girl. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Jerome and Dovie Havely; sisters, Margaret Hartman, Nannie Long, Ethel Sykes, and Mary Lane; and brothers, Roscoe Holston, Charles Holston, and J.F. Havely. He is survived by his daughter, Kim (Perry) Hall of Morristown; son, Larry (Brenda) Gray of Murrells Inlet, SC; grandchildren, David Gray, Jason Gary, Tiffany Fleenor, Joshua Bunch, Jacob Bunch, Lindsey Reel, and Terry Hall; great-grandchildren, Kennedy Gray, Hayden and Cali Hall, and Wade and Owen Reel; brother-in-law, Raymond McKinney; niece, Debbie Shaffer; great-nephew, Matthew Capua; and a number of other nieces and nephews. The family expresses special gratitude to Dinah Seals, Benton’s beloved friend who took wonderful care of him; niece, Linda McWilliams who provided him with wonderful companionship; and everyone with Covenant Hospice for their special care and attention they provided in his final months. The family will receive friends from 12 – 1 p.m. Saturday, September 24 at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Danny Lamb officiating.
